TEDxTirupur - Independently Organized TED event at Tirupur !!!

Tirupur is a city of business. Well known for vests and briefs and textile companies. It is one among the TOP TEN exporters in India. But there is something missing here. It is TED and social media awareness. This is my part as a native of Tirupur to host a TEDx event and willing to introduce some best things ever. And as a first step I obtained the License from TED to host a TEDx event @ Tirupur. And here it is ...
TEDxTirupur !!! Tirupur will experience TED soon !!!
So finally, to all those people, who doesn't know what TED, TEDx is ...???

In short about TEDx, TEDx are the independently organized TED events. People apply and obtain license from TED to host an event and on TED's license approval, they become the licensee of that particular TEDx event which is valid for 1 year. They may reapply for the next time too...
And such an independently organized event is TEDx Tirupur.

TEDxTirupur Website: http://www.TEDxTirupur.com
TEDxTirupur on Twitter: @TEDxTirupur
TEDxTirupur on Facebook: http://on.fb.me/fbTEDxTirupur

This is a students organized TEDx event. The details regarding the TEDxTirupur will be regularly updated on the web via any of the above ways.

Indian Made 3G Data Card For Rs. 1300

The 3G device market seems to be hotting up with the latest and cheapest offer from iWEBLEAF, a city based company launched by two young Oriyas, who just completed B.Tech from the Techno School under Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) this year.

They are all set to offer 3G data card (USB modem) at an unbelievable price tag of Rs. 1300 at least for the time being.

Chandrasekhar Panda and Saswat Swain have designed the first ever 3G technology-based data card that provides high speed internet at a very low cost. The Wi-Fi and 3G enabled data card is designed to work on the spectrum of any telecom operator providing high speed internet service all the time.

This invention is expected to be a major breakthrough in providing mobile broadband connectivity as the biggest challenge in the country to-day is to provide broadband in rural villages and remote areas of the country.

"Our goal is to drive a 'highway' of high-speed internet uniting 410 rural regions, where private telecom companies do not develop broadband internet infrastructure due to low demand.

By using only 3 to 4 data cards, an entire village with around 150 families can be provided internet connectivity with a net spending of just Rs 900 per month. Similarly, an urban user will get high speed internet at just Rs 99 per month," Saswat on Thursday told "The ET" while giving a demo of the new data card.

Interestingly, by using this data card, a person can get to view more than 150 television channels, free of cost without using any television tuner or additional gadgets. "The user can also switch to different networks within two days," he added.

The twin inventor's problem is that their innovation is yet to be recognized by the state government. "We are unable to go for commercial production of the device as it requires at least Rs two crores, which we just can't dream of. Currently we are talking with Future Group.

Several network operators have shown interest in buying the technology. But we want to bring this service for the common public for which we need the intervention of the state government. This project will create direct as well as indirect employment opportunity in the state. If the volume of this product is increased we can drastically reduce the product price to Rs. 900."

These young entrepreneurs have already written letters to the President, Prime Minister, Chief Minister but they are yet to get any positive response from the state apparatus.

Compared to market's average price of 3G data card Rs. 2500, iWEBLEAF's 3G data card which comes at half of that certainly will draw attention and lure more users to try high-speed wireless internet services on 3G network.

"Our iWEBLEAF 3G HSDPA Data Card can offer up to 7.2Mbps download speed (HSDPA) and 384kbps upload speed. It also supports 2G network – GPRS/EDGE. It comes with genuine IMEI number and a SIM card slot, to use with any GSM operator", Saswat added saying that it also has a microSD card slot to double the device as 4GB pen drive.

Currently it is supporting data/sms/call function with USB 2.0 interface and can be used on any Windows (200/XP/Vista/7), Mac and Linux system.

The device will autoinstall all required drivers and softwares, which includes a mobile TV application which offers 150+ channels, including three Odia channels, including the OTV, ETV and Naxatra TV free of cost without using any TV Tuner or any additional gadgets.

Evan Williams, On Listening To Twitter Users !!!

Evan Williams, the Co-Founder of Twitter Inc, on TED. His views after listening to a lot of Twitter users. He explains how twitter had its origin and how Twitter helps an user answering the question "What are you doing right now???!!!" to millions and millions of followers in a single second."I Kicked Mommy at 08:43PM on Thu, Dec 18!"
- A tweet by a baby

In the year leading up to this talk, the web tool Twitter exploded in size (up 10x during 2008 alone). Co-founder Evan Williams reveals that many of the ideas driving that growth came from unexpected uses invented by the users themselves.

Better Eye Health/Sight In This Digital World !!!

In the modern digital world, you obviously lose your health in many ways. Thru mobile phones, computers, iPad, iPhones and many more. . . You are certainly surrounded by harmful radiations that might provide you all type of helps to make your health worse.  Especially your eyes are severely affected when you use your computers. In this digital world, we often spend almost 12 hours in computers. So there is huge percentage of probability to get your eyes affected. So please ensure that you keep your health optimized and organized. And here are few ways with which you can reduce the percentage of getting your eyes affected when you use your computers.

1. Customize Your Environment

You can adjust your environment when using digital devices to promote healthier eyes. If possible, use a large monitor or screen magnifier to reduce eye strain. Make sure your chair is close to your computer and you are sitting in a chair with adequate lower-back support. Position your chair so that you are comfortable.

Each person has a preference for his or her chair, so take some time to find what’s best for you. Making sure you’re comfortable before you start using a device will decrease the amount of stress you put on your eyes trying to find the best viewing angle.

2. Think About Lighting

For extended reading, change your monitor settings to a reflective lighting scheme. But don’t only think about your computer lighting.

Good room lighting isn’t just flattering. It’s also healthy for your eyes. So, keep bright lighting overhead to a minimum. Too much lighting overexposes and irritates the eyes, while too little causes the eyes to strain in order to see. Keep your desk lamp shining on your desk, not you. Try to keep window light off to the side, rather than in front or behind you. Use blinds and get a glare screen. Position the computer screen to reduce reflections from windows or overhead lights.

3. Adjust Your Reading Angle

Adjust the screen so you look at it slightly downward and are about 24 to 28 inches away. The center should be about 4 to 6 inches below your eyes. Also, make sure your screen is big enough and with just the right brightness and contrast so you’re not straining to see text or images clearly. Adjust the screen settings to where they are comfortable for you.

4. Magnify Text on Screen

For those with permanently reduced vision, magnifying the text and images on your device will help you avoid straining your eyes from squinting. Almost every device can be adjusted to display larger text, and for those with compromised vision, this can make reading much easier.

5. Blink and Take Frequent Breaks

Devices are set up for virtually nonstop work — but you aren’t a machine. You need to take breaks to recharge, and so do your eyes. Use the “20-20-20 rule.” It’s easy to remember: every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break, and look at something 20 feet away. And don’t forget to blink! Blinking washes your eyes in naturally therapeutic tears. If you regularly wear glasses, also make sure you have proper lenses for the computer.

Follow the above tips, and you can enjoy your slick new technology without worrying about consequences to your eye health, productivity and overall peace of mind.

Facebook News Feeds Has Malwares

Are you a Facebook user?
Beware of Malwares !!!
If you are an active Facebook user, then there is a good chance that you have been exposed to malware at least once as you trolled through your friends' news feeds. The recent statistics released by security firm BitDefender has claimed that approximately 20 percent of all news feeds on Facebook users led to malicious content, reports the BBC.

The firm arrived at its figures after analysing data from 14,000 users who had installed its 'Safego' security app. In a month since its launch, BitDefender also analyzed 17 million posts on the social network. By clicking on infected links in a news feed, the users risk having viruses installed on their computer. The majority of infections were associated with apps written by independent developers, which promised enticements and rewards to trick users into installing the malware, BitDefender said.

These apps would then either install malware used for spying on users or to send messages containing adverts to the users' contacts. Facebook has a thriving community of independent developers who have built apps for the social network. The vast majority enable users to tweak their Facebook pages, adding widgets, games or extra functions, such as delivering daily horoscope predictions.

Facebook said it already had steps in place to identify and remove malware-containing links. "Once we detect a phony message, we delete all instances of that message across the site," the site said in a statement.

Crooks have targeted social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, because of their vast number of users, said Rik Ferguson, a security researcher for anti-virus maker 'Trend Micro'.

"Because social networks are based on a community of people you trust, they're an attractive target for malware writers," he said.

"Because social networks are based on a community of people you trust, they're an attractive target for malware writers," he said.

"You're more likely to click on a link from someone you trust," Ferguson added.

A Heartfelt Sorry To My Readers & My Subscribers ...

This is my hard time ever I had in my life. There were situations that troubled me a lot, but nothing was to this extent. Those things made me to be away from the world of international network for few 10 days. I was not able to update any of my online stuffs. This blog, my personal website, and my other social media pages like Twitter and Facebook, etc ..... And this have affected me in a lot of ways both offline and online. I was very sad to read the mail from IndiBlogger.in regarding my new rank. Obviously my rank has come down due to my online absence and because of my long gap of 10 days. I was very sad and worried when i opened my mail box to see 600+ UNREAD emails these days, some of which were very very important to be answered. I lost some huge things. I express my guiltiness to all my readers and subscribers regarding my absence this last 10 days. And definitely i will do compensate my absence in a better way.

Silve OS - The Silverlight Operating System

Operating Systems are considered to be the platform to interact with the computer. When many giants fight by creating their most wonderful beautiful operating systems, SilveOS team made a superb project called www.silveos.com . And it is basically a complete sliver light operating system which has almost all the basic applications that are necessity such as Rich Notepad, Simple Notepad, Paint, etc... It also gives its hands to the social media and provides some apps such as Twitter App, YouTube Viewer, Flickr Viewer and also a cool RSS Reader and so on... And there are also some other apps like Solitaire, Spider, Chess which will accompany you when you are really bored. Here are some of the snapshots of the SilveOS operating system.

When you browse to www.sliveos.com, automatically the silver light application starts which is actually the booting process of the particular operating system. By default, the user is GUEST and you can simply login into the OS as a guest user and you can try the SliveOS. And obviously you can also create an account for yourself and you can simply login using that username and password.
You can register here and after registration it will take you to the OS Desktop. And when you launch the Start Menu, you can see your username.
You can see my username in the start menu.
You can see my social media handle "InfiVivek" as the username in the start menu above.

You can see the OS desktop in the essence of Windows 7. Ans you will also notice the icons of various applications.
This is the FILE EXPLORER in the SilveOS.  And you can see some My Document folders and other stuffs. The below images are some of the basic applications such as text editors and paint applications that are present in the OS.

Some entertainment softwares.

A Media Player from which you can browse audio or video files from your computer and play them.

Gadgets in the OS sidebar
And the pictures below will show some social media applications like Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, and also an RSS reader.
Twitter App

YouTube Viewer

RSS Reader
It also has an inbuilt application for Microsoft Virtual Earth.
Microsoft Virtual Earth

And another important thing about the Slive OS is that it has an inbuilt Internet Browser which looks like below.

This browser has three default search engine built-in search.Namely Bing, Google, Yahoo...

This OS has also the basic features or options like Control Panel where you can change your password for your username and even you can change the Wallpaper for your desktop. And so on....

Will you believe me when i say that you can install your own programs in this operating system. Yes here it is.
Installing an application from the Computer

Installing an application from the Internet
A Sudoku game is being installed...
And yes, you might have enjoyed seeing these pictures. When i was trying the SliveOS, i was very sad to see a thing there. That is,

The AD that is getting displayed below the task bar. Normally you won't see the AD directly, you need to scroll down the page to see this. Off course they too need some revenue.

A Dad-Son's Attempt To Send An iPhone With HD Camera Into Space !!!

Some fathers and sons spend their weekends flying kites in the park.

When some dads and sons spend weekends by flying kites, Luke and Max thought differently !!!

Luke Geissbuhler and his 7-year-old son Max thought it might be more fun to send an iPhone and an HD camera into space.

The purpose was simple: to film some of that stuff that is beyond us. So they thought they'd attach their equipment to a weather balloon. Once it's up there, they figured, the dearth of atmospheric pressure would ultimately burst it and send it back to Earth.

It all seemed very clever but not exactly foolproof.

As Geissbuhler and son say in their video: "It would have to survive 100 mph winds, temperatures of 60 degrees below zero, speeds of over a 150 mph, and the high risk of a water landing."

Still, the Wright brothers wouldn't have been put off by such uncertainty, and they never had an iPhone with which they could track the route of their flying craft. So father and son did a little low-altitude testing and then wandered off to the spacecraft-launching mecca that is Newburgh, N.Y., and sent their balloon into the sky.

The camera and the iPhone had been placed inside some handwarmers and, on the appointed day, father and son were their own two-man (with help) Mission Control in the park, as they watched their balloon sail off into the vast above.

Here is the YouTube version of the attempt.

The balloon burst after around 70 minutes. But it managed to record 100 minutes of footage. As if it knew its own way home, it came back to Earth 30 miles from where it had launched, which Geissbuhler attributed to "a quick ascent and two differing wind patterns."

This is a truly committed father and son partnership, so they searched for their flying machine until they found it "in the dead of night." Yes, it was 50 feet up a tree, but the iPhone's GPS and the camera's external LED light led them to it.

One can only wonder what their self-styled "Brooklyn Space Program" might attempt next. Perhaps a manned (and boyyed) space flight?

Bit.ly URL Shortening Service Introduces QR Codes

The above one is called the QR code. And now Bit.ly url shortening service introduces this feature. It is not a big task for users to create this code.

  • Go to bit.ly
  • Copy your long URL and paste in the Shorten with bit.ly text box and click shorten.
  • And now copy the shortened URL and paste that url in another browser and add '.qr' at the end of the short url and press enter to get the QR code for your website.
And now you can save them and post them in your blog or send them to your friend's mobile. And To scan the code, you’ll need an app like QR Scanner (iTunes link) for the iPhone and iPod touch, or ShopSavvy for Android devices.

J Siddarth (A Man With Cerebral Palsy) - TEDxChennai 2010 Speaker

This guy is looking too smart standing in front of a beach with a cooling glass and wearing Adidas T-Shirt.

But the story of this guy will make you cry. This guy can move mountains if he wish and this guy can make some remarkable unbelievable things. When i say that this guy can move mountains, there is a little fact to be noted that this guy is not physically fit. He is a person with cerebral palsy.

Few people might have by now clicked on the link "cerebral palsy" and might have gained some awareness about it. Few would not have done that and sure you will do it after reading the line which you are reading now...

Now you may ask yourself a question, how this guy can move mountains and do some remarkable things. Yes, he can do that. Why can't he when he can claim himself as one of the eminent speakers of TEDxChennai 2010 edition. And off course he is the man who got standing applause first. With this post i have blogged some of the pictures that might make you feel surprised. And now here is the story of this guy.

And to start, he is a proud recipient of National award in 2008 by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment as “Best Employee With Cerebral Palsy” given by the honorable Vice President of India on 3 Dec 2008. The beloe are some of his proud moments...

This guy, when born was normal like us. But due to the jaundice, he got this effect. And Siddarth was emphasizing on one issue that this Cerebral Palsy is not a disease.
Siddarth spent 9 years of his life at home because schools were not ready to accept him. But one school in bangalore was kind enough to accept him and educate him. They taught him type writing. He wrote his exams with a type writer till his 8th standard.(With this one hand that too with one finger). He has done Masters in Economics from Loyola Madras. He wanted himself to be treated alike others. His parents gave him support but Siddarth was brave enough to design his life with his own efforts. That is the kind of attitude with which he  came upto this level in the society. Since he was not accepted by few schools during his childhood, there is a obvious age difference. And that was bridged by the way he was
- Double promoted from UKG to 2nd std

- He completed his 6,7,8 in one half year.

Thanks to teachers who bridge his age gap.
And here are some of the pictures that was snapped at TEDxChennai during his speech...

Actually we the official bloggers of TEDxChennai occupied the last seats of the IC & SR Auditorium, IIT Madras, where the TEDxChennai was organized. Just before our seats, his father and mother was sitting and they were voluntarily informing us and their neighbors that they are the Siddarth's parents. I found they were really proud hearing his speech. We asked Siddarth's father's name, and he was good enough to give his business card. Off course there was standing applause for his father too.
